Taking a family vacation across the country is a great way to spend the summer but it isn’t the only way. Spending some time at home can be beneficial to the soul, and you don’t need much to enjoy yourself. We here at Wantagh Mazda have some of the best summer activities to help you make the most of the warm weather!
- County Fair – Summer is chock full of festivals and fairs, and it’s likely your county holds one of their own. Eat some fair food, check out the attractions, and enjoy the entertainment. A county fair is a great way to spend a few of those lazy summer days.
- Grilling – An iconic part of summer, grilling is a way for families to bond and make fantastic food. Take the time to try a new recipe this summer. It could become your next family tradition!
- Hammock – Napping on a hammock is the perfect way to pass the time. Beat the summer heat by setting up between trees or on the porch, lay back, and relax. For an added effect, hang string lights along the tree branches or on your porch if you plan to stay out after the sun goes down.
Here at Wantagh Mazda, we love calling Long Island our home. Another Long Island native, Gabriel Cordell, also loves this place.
Earlier this month, Gabriel spent four days travelling 122 miles across the island. He wasn’t sight-seeing; he was using only his arm muscles to push himself in a wheelchair all the way from Montauk Lighthouse to Animal League America in Port Washington.
His Roll Across Long Island mission was to raise money and awareness for the North Shore Animal League America, the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization. Specifically, the funds raised by this project will go toward building a new feline adoption center that will help save countless cats and kittens. You can still donate to the cause HERE!
“I’m a Long Island boy through and through,” Gabriel says, in a statement. “It doesn’t matter where I live or where I am in the world, Long Island will always be home. I want to do something to give back to one of its most well respected organizations. North Shore Animal League America means so much to so many people and pets everywhere.”
When we heard about Gabriel’s mission, we wanted to help, so we donated a Mazda CX-5 to be used as a support vehicle for the trip.
If you’re looking to add a new furry friend to your family, head to North Shore Animal League America to adopt an animal in need of a forever home.
