best-in-class under $20,000

When you have a tight budget for a new car, that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice safety, amenities, or even spirited driving. With the 2015 Mazda3, you can get all of this for less than the price of many used cars.

With the Mazda3’s starting price of $19,765, it was been awarded a Best-in-Class under $20,000 award from Kiplinger Personal Finance. This award is given to vehicles that deliver the best overall value, fuel efficiency, resale price, performance, and safety in its class.

Kiplinger writes, “The Mazda3 might be small in stature, but it packs a punch in value. The winner of last year’s Best New Car Award in this category sports above-average resale values, impressive fuel economy and loads of cargo space, whether you choose the sedan or hatchback. Options include a regenerative-braking system to save fuel, plus safety features such as adaptive headlamps and blind-spot monitoring.”

Equipped with Mazda’s Skyactiv Technology, the Mazda3 delivers up to 40 mpg on the highway and offers an exhilarating driving experience. Safety-wise, the Mazda3 has earned a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and a 5-Star Safety Rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
