The bulk of the 2022 Mazda lineup has earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s coveted TOP SAFETY PICK+ award, a testament to the construction quality and safety technologies available in all Mazda models.

To qualify for the awards, they needed to earn the highest possible rating in each of the IIHS’s six crashworthiness evaluations as well as earn an advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention — with both vehicles and pedestrians.

Additionally, all models to win the 2022 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ must earn a good or acceptable headlight rating for all standard and available headlights.

IIHS tested the 2022 Mazda3 Sedan, Mazda3 Hatchback, Mazda CX-30, Mazda CX-5, and Mazda CX-9. All passed the necessary criteria with flying colors. The IIHS also introduced a new, tougher side impact test that will be part of the criteria next year, but the Mazda CX-5 already aced the evaluation.

“Achieving the IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ Award is a reflection of Mazda’s commitment to providing advanced safety technologies that our owners expect,” said Mazda North American Operations President and CEO Jeff Guyton.

“Our wide range of safety technologies are designed to support, not replace the driver, which results in a more confident and enjoyable driving experience.”

Mazda CX-3 Awards and Accolades

2017 Mazda CX-3 awardsThe Mazda CX-3 awards collection has filled up in the short two years it’s been on the market. Safe, efficient, and powerful, the CX-3 is a favorite in the compact crossover market and has been recognized across the board by prestigious organizations like KBB, Car and Driver, and more.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has named both the 2016 and 2017 CX-3 as a Top Safety Pick+, meaning they performed well in crash tests and earned a good rating when equipped with front collision mitigation technology. This designation isn’t awarded easily, and it proves both Mazda’s dedication to creating safe vehicles and the CX-3’s outstanding engineering.

Car and Driver has recognized the CX-3 as a top pick in the subcompact crossover segment, citing its “can-do attitude” and “taut handling with edgy styling.” New York Daily News awarded the CX-3 its City SUV award in its first ever auto awards in 2016, and the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada named it the Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year.

The CX-3 is one of the best, most versatile vehicles in its segment, and we’re proud to sell it at Wantagh Mazda. If you’re interested in buying a new CX-3, stop by any time!
