The bulk of the 2022 Mazda lineup has earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s coveted TOP SAFETY PICK+ award, a testament to the construction quality and safety technologies available in all Mazda models.
To qualify for the awards, they needed to earn the highest possible rating in each of the IIHS’s six crashworthiness evaluations as well as earn an advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention — with both vehicles and pedestrians.
Additionally, all models to win the 2022 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ must earn a good or acceptable headlight rating for all standard and available headlights.
IIHS tested the 2022 Mazda3 Sedan, Mazda3 Hatchback, Mazda CX-30, Mazda CX-5, and Mazda CX-9. All passed the necessary criteria with flying colors. The IIHS also introduced a new, tougher side impact test that will be part of the criteria next year, but the Mazda CX-5 already aced the evaluation.
“Achieving the IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ Award is a reflection of Mazda’s commitment to providing advanced safety technologies that our owners expect,” said Mazda North American Operations President and CEO Jeff Guyton.
“Our wide range of safety technologies are designed to support, not replace the driver, which results in a more confident and enjoyable driving experience.”
The 2022 Mazda CX-9 is the ideal choice for drivers in Wantagh, New York, who need three-row comfort and exceptional style. With the Mazda CX-9, you’ll have room to grow, miles of driving to enjoy, and countless days of appreciating the premium quality Mazda has to offer.
New for 2022, the Mazda CX-9 now offers i-ACTIV AWD® standard for every model. That means that you’ll have superior all-weather, all-season confidence wherever your travels take you. You’ll get that confidence on top of a SKYACTIV®-G 2.5 Dynamic Pressure Turbo engine that delivers 320 horsepower with 93 octane fuel and returns up to 26 mpg on the highway.
Mazda also ensures that the new 2022 Mazda CX-9 is one of the most styling, premium-feeling CUVs in its segment. Its curb appeal comes from the brand’s iconic “KODO: Soul of Motion” design, and its interiors are replete with rich materials and advanced technologies.
The finest, most shining example of excellence in the lineup is the 2022 Mazda CX-9 Signature. Mazda sets the top trim apart with a unique Titanium Gray Metallic front grille as well as Nappa leather-trimmed seats and available second-row captain’s chairs.
Like the 2022 Mazda CX-5 and Mazda CX-9, the Mazda CX-30 makes i-ACTIV AWD® standard for 2022. That means you won’t have to pay any extra to get the confidence you need to tackle tough terrain and harsh New York weather. This works in harmony with standard features like Off-Road Traction Assist and G-Vectoring Control Plus.
Following its popularity for other models, the Carbon Edition also comes to the Mazda CX-30 lineup for 2022. The new Mazda CX-30 2.5 S Carbon Edition is offered exclusively with a Polymetal Gray exterior, red leather seats, and 18-inch black aluminum-alloy wheels. With this new model, you’ll have little trouble standing out whether you’re in Wantagh, Long Island, or the Big Apple.
Also new for 2022 is the Platinum Quartz Metallic paint option — available for the Mazda CX-30 2.5 S Select, Preferred, Premium, and all Mazda CX-30 2.5 Turbo models. In addition, aluminum roof rails are now standard for the Mazda CX-30 2.5 S Select.

The 2022 Mazda CX-5 is getting a few significant updates to help keep it fresh. All models now get standard i-ACTIV AWD®, improving its off-road performance as well as its ability to find traction in inclement weather. That’s confidence that New Yorkers will probably find valuable at this time of the year.
The Mazda CX-5 also receives tweaks to the suspension and seats, both of which should make the ride even more comfortable. And at the front, the grille features a new three-dimensional mesh texture that should help the SUV stand out whether parked or in motion.
Under the hood, the Mazda CX-5 offers an available SKYACTIV®-G 2.5 Turbo engine that produces up to 256 horsepower with 93 octane fuel. It’s quick and smooth, with lots of torque at the low range, making it responsive at any speed.
Inside the cabin, you’ll find a 10.25-inch Mazda Connect™ display that you can control via touch, voice, steering wheel controls, or even the Multifunction Commander control rotary dial in the center console. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ are standard, as well as a variety of i-ACTIVSENSE® safety technologies like Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Smart Brake Support with Collision Warning.
The future is looking exceptionally bright at Mazda. Recently, Mazda announced that it will add several new vehicles to the lineup in the years ahead, including the Mazda CX-50 being revealed in November. But with Halloween so close and conjuring up visions of creatures returning from the grave, it got us thinking: What if Mazda brought back some beloved classics.
Just in time for the spookiest month of the year, we present a short list of vehicles we think Mazda should bring back from the grave.
Mazdaspeed 3: We’re coming up on 10 years since the last time Mazda made a Mazdaspeed 3, and we think it’s high time that it dust off the cobwebs for a comeback. The Mazdaspeed 3 has quite the reputation for good reason — it was a powerful, fun-to-drive, and assertive hatchback with loads of personality.
Mazda RX-8: Mazda is finally bringing back the iconic rotary engine as a range extender for the upcoming Mazda MX-30 PHEV. The Wankel rotary was a staple of the Mazda lineup up through 2012 with the end of production on the Mazda RX-8. Mazda had to pull the plug on this beloved sports car due to emissions standards, so it would be quite fitting to bring it back as a sporty, powerful plug-in hybrid.
Mazda B Series: It’s been long enough since Mazda offered a pickup truck in the United States that many may not even know that was the case. But with trucks leaning more and more into luxury, technology, and efficiency, the time seems ripe for Mazda to consider a revival.
If you’re looking to see what Mazda is offering in the present, be sure to visit Wantagh Mazda in Wantagh, New York. And have a happy and safe Halloween!

Mazda is making the move to electrify its lineup, and it all starts with the upcoming Mazda MX-30. The Mazda MX-30 battery-electric vehicle will launch in the fall of this year in California before rolling out more widely next year, and it will be joined by a plug-in hybrid that brings an iconic piece of Mazda history into the world of tomorrow.
According to President of Mazda North American Operations Jeff Guyton, the upcoming Mazda MX-30 will be the first phase of its adaptation to a changing world. Among the electrified models that will follow are “a series plug-in hybrid with a rotary generator for the Mazda MX-30, a plug-in hybrid for our new large platform, and a traditional hybrid for our new American-made crossover.”
It’s been confirmed that the Mazda MX-30 plug-in hybrid EV will release sometime next year, and it will likely be one of the next new vehicles to appear in the showroom at Wantagh Mazda in Wantagh, New York. By using a rotary generator to charge the battery, Mazda recalls the classic Wankel engine that powered driver favorites like the Mazda RX-7 and Mazda RX-8.
“The rotary generator will mark the return of our unique rotary powertrain,” Guyton said. “This technology is being engineered for nearly silent operation and will replenish the battery rather than drive the wheels. As a result, the Mazda MX-30 will always drive like the engaging EV that it is, but with freedom to charge from the wall or on the go.”
If you’re interested in going green, stay tuned. It sounds like Mazda has a lot of big plans on the horizon, and you’ll find the results right here at Wantagh Mazda in Wantagh, New York.
With temperatures rising in New York, now is the perfect time to give your vehicle some extra attention and help protect it from the summer heat. To extend the life of your car and its many components, you should schedule regular maintenance here at Wantagh Mazda. In the meantime, here are some ways you can help your vehicle get ready for summer.
If you equipped your vehicle with winter tires, be sure to switch those out for summer or all-season tires to extend the life of the winter variety. If you kept the same tires on your car year-round, be sure to check their air pressure and fill them to the manufacturer-recommended PSI. You’ll also want to check the tread depth as well as any signs of cracks or bulging.
Wipers And Fluid
After a snowy winter and rainy spring, your vehicle’s windshield wipers could use a break. Check to ensure they don’t have any cracks or are coming apart anywhere. Don’t forget to assess the amount of windshield wiper fluid your car contains and fill it up if needed.
One of the best ways to help take care of your vehicle’s paint is to wash and wax it. Regular washes will get rid of any dust or grime that accumulates in the summer while a good waxing will seal in the lustrous color. While you’re at it, take your cleaning efforts to the interior to get rid of any remaining road salt or mud from the floor mats.
Spring has sprung once again in Wantagh, New York. If you’re relishing the warmer weather and already looking forward to a well-deserved road trip, you’ll want to make sure that your Mazda is up for the adventure. With three key vehicle maintenance tasks out of the way, you can be confident that your spring will be full of fun.
The cold New York weather can take a toll on your vehicle’s battery. If you’ve had the same battery for going on three years or more, it might just be time to change it out for a new one. Bring your vehicle into the service center at Wantagh Mazda and we’ll check your battery as part of your regular inspection. If it doesn’t have enough power to get you through the spring, we can replace it quickly and easily.
Windshield Wiper Blades
Did you know that you should be replacing your windshield wipers every six to 12 months? That means if you didn’t get a new set of blades before the start of winter, you might be overdue for a new pair. Having fresh windshield wipers means the best visibility possible, which can be a big help if you’re driving in the rain this spring. You can get new windshield wiper blades at Wantagh Mazda — they’re inexpensive and easy for our technicians to install.
The health of your tires is always a top concern, no matter the season. If you use all-season tires on your Mazda, you’ll want to pay extra close attention to the tread and tire pressure this spring. Make sure that your tires are properly inflated, wearing evenly, and have the proper amount of tread to help you drive safely. Wantagh Mazda can help with all your rubber-related needs, from rotations to balancing to repairs to replacement.
Turn to the experts at Wantagh Mazda for all your spring vehicle maintenance needs. We’ll get you back on the road quickly so that you can get to enjoying all that great driving weather.
