Every 2021 Mazda Model Earns IIHS Top Safety Pick+

New Mazda Lineup | Wantagh, NY

Every model in the 2021 Mazda lineup has earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award, including the Mazda3 Sedan, Mazda3 Hatchback, Mazda6, Mazda CX-3, Mazda CX-30, Mazda CX-5, and Mazda CX-9.

The Top Safety Pick+ award is the highest safety honor granted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, one highly coveted by all manufacturers. Many brands do not manage to earn even the standard TSP award for all of their models, least of all the more difficult TSP+ award.

In fact, Mazda is one of only two brands to have managed this impressive feat, and the only non-luxury brand to do so. To do it, all of its models had to earn the maximum safety rating in six crashworthiness evaluations ranging from moderate overlap front crash tests to head restraint tests. In other words, Mazda vehicles not only deliver awesome performance, flexibility, and interiors on par with luxury brands, but also top-notch safety.

It doesn’t stop there. To get a TSP+ award, vehicles also needed to earn an advanced or superior rating for both vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian crash avoidance. Every single Mazda model earned the top superior rating for the former, and three out of seven also earned the top superior rating for the latter.

Finally, to earn a TSP+ award rather than just a TSP award, the Mazda lineup needed to be offered with standard headlights that provide good or acceptable visibility.

In summary, if you’re looking to shop for a premium-feeling brand that provides excellent value and style along with industry-leading safety regardless of the model you buy, take a look at the 2021 Mazda model lineup at Wantagh Mazda in Wantagh, New York. September was a great month for Mazda. In fact, Mazda set sales records for both the CX-5 and the Mazda6. Total vehicle sales in the United States were up 6.7 percent over last year with 23,980 vehicles delivered.

“The past two years have seen a September sales month without the Labor Day holiday, which can present a challenge for our dealers, yet we still reported a year-over-year increase,” said Ron Stettner, vice president of sales, MNAO, in a statement. “Sales growth continues to be the product of strong dealer support and SKYACTIV Technology, specifically the quality, fuel efficiency, technology and value found in Mazda3, Mazda6 and CX-5.”

With 4,263 vehicles sold, the Mazda6 had its best September since 2005—a 34.6 percent increase over September 2013 sales. The CX-5 also had a great month, with a 28.9 percent year-over-year jump driven by the 8,097 units sold.

Helping to boost Mazda’s overall sales is its innovative Skyactiv Technology, which boosts performance and fuel efficiency at the same time. More than 84 percent of Mazda vehicles sold in September were equipped with Skyactiv Technology.
